4th Edition of Makeathon hosted in New Delhi

India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), on December 14, 2018, announced the winners of IESA Nationwide Makeathon 2018 at Hotel Royal Plaza, New Delhi. Sanjay Prakash and Naveen Kumar from Wearberry Soft Solution India Pvt Ltd, Warangal were declared the winners and were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh. First and Second Runners-Up were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 70,000 and Rs. 30,000, respectively. IESA Makeathon is an initiative aimed at promoting innovation in the Indian ESDM industry. As the name suggests, Makeathon is all about designing and creating products through various innovative techniques and approaches. In July 2018, IESA in collaboration with its partners like Mediatek and JUIncubator, rolled out a pan-India challenge inviting budding tech entrepreneurs from 5 different cities to develop products solving urban challenges in verticals like Smart Communications, Agri Tech, Water Management, Urban Traffic, Smart Cars / Vehicles, Robotics, Waste Management, Education, Surveillance / Security, Medical / Health, Smart Communications and Industry Challenges.

Semiconductor Fabless Accelerator Lab (SFAL) Opened in Bengaluru
Date: December 24, 2018
Government of Karnataka in collaboration with Indian Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) on Monday opened a Semiconductor Fabless Accelerator Lab (SFAL) in Bengaluru. Government plans for investment of Rs 21.5 crore for development of this lab and projects investment to around Rs 56 crore in upcoming five years to expand this facility. This lab will be a first-of-its-kind initiative in semiconductor space within the country. With this lab, IESA is bound to create a strong infrastructure support to incubate early-stage start-ups and accelerate the existing fabless SMEs by providing relevant expertise, access to funds, market and mentors.

On December 24, 2018, this lab launched by Shri K J George, Minister for Large & Medium Scale Industries, IT, BT and S&T Government of Karnataka with Shri Gaurav Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary, IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka along with IESA Chairman, IESA Executive Council Members and other industry leaders, at The Lalit, Bengaluru.
