After the formation of the new Government under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Digital India has been envisioned as an ambitious umbrella programme to prepare India for knowledge based transformation. This programme is viewed as a Game Changer, from the perspective of delivery of pro-citizen good governance, with the synchronized and coordinated engagement of the entire Government. The Programme was conceptualized in a span of less than 3 months and consequently endorsed by the Union Cabinet at its meeting held on 20th August, 2014…..

….Setting up of Electropreneur Park: Approved on 5th June 2014 at an estimated cost of Rs.21.10 crore, this would be implemented by STPI, jointly with Delhi University and India Electronics & Semiconductor Association, Bangalore, for development of Product and IP creation in the ESDM sector.

Rs 800-Cr Centre to Help People Check Malware in Computers

Amid growing use of IT, the government today said it will step up cyber security measures under Digital India programme starting with a Rs 800 crore centre that will help people check and clean their computer system from viruses and other malwares.

"We are going to make national cyber coordination centre at an estimated cost of Rs 800 crore. For this we are carrying out inter-ministerial consultation. It will have capability to tell you that your computer system is infected and will clean that infection as well," Telecom and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said in a conference on 100-days performance of his ministry.

The government will announce a startup and innovation policy to attract more youngsters towards entrepreneurship, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said. The policy will be based on the 27 recommendations made by a three-member committee comprising KSIDC Managing Director Aruna Sundararajan, Federal Bank Managing Director Shyam Srinivasan and Startup Village Chairman Sanjay Vijayakumar appointed by the Planning Board.

Net FDI Inflows on Track to Top $30 Billion This Fiscal: Nomura

Foreign direct investment inflows to India are expected to gain further momentum and net FDI inflows to the country could cross USD 30 billion mark this fiscal year driven by improved investor sentiment, a Nomura report says. According to the Japanese brokerage firm, net FDI inflows is on track to top USD 30 billion and this would reduce India's external sector vulnerability.

Hero Motocorp Plans Rs 2,200-Cr Plant in Andhra

India's largest twowheeler maker Hero MotoCorp plans to invest Rs 2,200 crore to set up a manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh, according to a senior official.The state Cabinet on Monday cleared allotment of 600 acres near Sri City integrated business city in Chittoor district to Hero Moto-Corp, steeling a march over neighbouring states to host the factory. Hero MotoCorp MD and CEO Pawan Munjal had said in June that the company was looking at setting up one of its largest facilities in south India for the local market. The announcement saw Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu woo the two-wheeler giant with competing incentive packages.

Dutch firms land in UP, investments to follow soon

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s recent visit to the Netherlands saw its first reciprocation on Monday with the latter’s Ambassador to India, Alphonsus Stoelinga, arriving in Uttar Pradesh accompanied by representatives of 12 companies from the European country.

Stoelinga, who sees in UP “enormous potential”, met the CM and agreed over a “step-by-step” investment to tap into the state’s growth rate.

“With over 200 million population and average growth rate of five per cent, UP has enormous potential. Private investors want to invest in cold chain, food processing, dairy development. UP is bigger than countries like Brazil and Mexico,” Stoelinga said.

Electronic cluster in Bangalore raises Rs 14 crore

An electronic cluster in Bangalore has successfully raised Rs 14 crore from the central and state governments. It will help start-ups and small enterprises design, test and develop electronic devices.
It has received Rs 10 crore from the central government and another Rs two crore from its 25-odd member companies and the Karnataka government.

India, China sign three MoUs which will generate investment

Xi is leading a high powered delegation to India, comprising of top ministers, bureaucrats and industrialists. Three MoUs were signed establishing 'Sister Province' relations between Guangdong of China and Gujarat of India. The MoU covers cooperation in economy and trade, environmental protection, public policy education, health, science and technology, tourism and culture. Both the sister provinces will also extend mutual cooperation in the fields of sports, youth affairs, urban planning, waste water management, infrastructure, environment, public health and exchange of economic and trade delegations.

Wipro mulls SEZ in Visakhapatnam

Enthused by the promise made by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu of an investor-friendly regime in Andhra Pradesh, technology titan Wipro is expanding its Visakhapatnam campus. The company has sought a nod from the union commerce ministry for setting up a new special economic zone (SEZ) in Andhra Pradesh.

As per company filings with the commerce ministry, Wipro holds 1.22 hectares in Resapuvanipalem in Visakhapatnam and wants this to become an SEZ. Wipro chairman Azim Premji and AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu had met towards the end of July.
