MP govt to open IT park and EMC complexes at Bhopal, Jabalpur

The Madhya Pradesh government will be setting up IT Park and Electronic Manufacturing Clusters (EMC) at Bhopal and Jabalpur in a move aimed at generating direct and indirect employment for almost 60,000 people.

Union Minister for Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad will lay the foundation stone for the IT Park and Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) at village Badwai near Bhopal on Monday. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will preside over the function.

Madhya Pradesh is contributing significantly towards realization of the vision of a Digital India. The EMCs coming up at Badwai near Bhopal and Purva near Jabalpur will help the State become self-reliant in electronics products by attracting IT/EHM investments.

The Karnataka government, in association with Cisco and Electronics City Industries Association (ELCIA), will unveil the first phase of Asia's first Internet of Things (IoT) Innovation Hub by Janu ary 2015. By June, the project will be complete, said Roshan Baig, minister for infrastructure.

The inventers of blue light emitting diodes, that hold the promise to brighten up the quality of life of over 1.5 billion people around the world who lack access to electricity grids, were awarded the 2014 Nobel Prize for physics on Tuesday .

Japan-born professors Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura (in pic) made the first blue LEDs in the early 1990s and were awarded for inventing an energy-efficient and environment-friendly light source. They will share the prize money of 8 million kronor (£700,000).

The wafer foundry market experienced a wavy development, jumping by 39.4% in 2010 following a 7.9% decline in 2009. And the growth rate first shrank to 8.7% in 2011, then expanded to 21.7% in 2012, and fell back to 6.8% in 2013. It is projected that the growth rate will stand at 15.6% in 2014 and 6.0% in 2015.
