Shri Satish Chandra Tewary

Satish Chandra Tewary belongs to 1984 batch of Indian Administrative Service. He is presently posted as Principal Secretary, Information Technology & Electronics Department of Government of West Bengal. He did his graduation and post-graduation from Univ. of Roorkee and MBA from Southern Cross University, New South Wales, Australia.

He has worked for seven months in the Department of Telecom as an Indian Telecommunication Service Officer as ADET(Probationer) in 1984. It gave him exposure to basic Telecom equipments, exchanges and transmission lines and also about the organization. He has worked in various positions in the field, Directorates and Secretariat. Postings include Sub Divisional Officer, Asansol and District Magistrate, Uttar Dinajpur. In Directorates, worked as Excise Commissioner and Labour Commissioner in West Bengal. In Secretariat, he has worked at Deputy Secretary and Director levels in the Ministries of Personnel and Information & Broadcasting in Government of India and as Special Secretary in Transport Department and Secretary in Departments of Technical Education & Training and Land & Land Reforms. He has also worked as Principal Secretary in the Departments of Higher Education and Health & Family Welfare besides his present assignment- all in Government of West Bengal.

As Principal Secretary, Information Technology & Electronics Department, he is administrative head of the Department. He supervises functioning of the Department, allocates work among various officers and heads many committees which deal with various subjects. He also attends many meetings with Government of India officials and with other Departments of Government of West Bengal. His job, inter alia, involves coordination with various bodies like Webel, National Informatics Centre, Department of Telecom officials, STPI, BSNL and Industry Associations and interaction with individual IT and Electronics Industries. It also involves field visits to IT Parks and other assets of the Department
