Session 1 (11:30am - 1:00pm)
The Design Ecosystem - Coming of Age

The semiconductor design has the greatest impact on the cost, manufacturability and systems level upgradeability / compatibility in the long term , and, is, therefore a very important part of the electronic hardware value chain. A well established semiconductor design ecosystem is vital for exploiting the full potential of the domestic market.

Over the years, an increasing number of global company’s have set up design operations in India. Besides, large Indian software companies have diversified into this domain and offer outsourced design services to overseas clients. The sector has also witnessed a number of start-ups and is making rapid strides. The size of the Indian semiconductor design market was USD US $4.6 billion in 2006 and is expected to reach USD US $ 43 billion in 2015.
