Matteo Lo Presti was born in Misterbianco, Italy, in 1965. He graduated with a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Catania in 1990.

Matteo joined ST in 1994 with the responsibility of Marketing and International Scientific Activities. In 1998, Lo Presti moved to Fuzzy Logic R&D, where he led the development of a new 8-bit microcontroller architecture (ST5), including all software and hardware support tools, which. forms the basis of the Companyís new ST75 microcontroller family.

From 2002 to 2004, Lo Presti was in charge of developing the Industrial and Automotive market segments in STís Emerging Markets, contributing to the considerable and constant increase in the number of design wins in the region. Director of STís MPA (Microcontrollers, Power, Analog) Systems Lab. 80 new complex systems were introduced on the market for the support and promotion of the groupís products with particular focus on activities related to Robotics and Industrial Automation, resulting in the development of complex systems for the efficient management of motion control and sensing.

From January 2007 till date, he has been the General Manager of STís IMS (Industrial and Multisegment) Systems Lab & Technical Marketing as well as the SPG ( Subsystems Product Group).

From July 2010, he has been nominee IMS Group Vice President.

In his tenure with ST, Lo Presti also served as the Head of the Department of Automatic Control at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Messina as a contract professor and in a similar capacity as the Faculty of Information Technology Engineering at the University of Catania. He has authored more than 40 international publications, including a book on Methods for Synthesis and Analysis of Fuzzy Controllers, and holds several industrial patents.
