Kapil Mohan, IAS, is responsible for the implementation of the National Mission on Enhanced Energy Efficiency component of the national action plan for climate change at the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. Prior to joining the bureau, Mohan was the Director (Distribution) in Ministry of Power and was responsible for the implementation of flagship schemes such as Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana and Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reform Programme.

Mohan has worked as the private secretary to the Union Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways. He also worked in various capacities in the Government of Karnataka.

Mohan, Fellow of Leadership in Environment and Development (LEAD), joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1990. He is the recipient of the Saint Andrews Prize for Environment in 2001 and the international MIT Award for Innovation in 2007. He was also the sole representative from India for the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship in 2009. Previously, he attended the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University, US, as a McNamara Fellow in the areas of public policy and science, technology, and environmental policy.

Mohan is a management graduate with a background in science.
