Munesh Makhija heads a team of 5300 GE engineers and scientists
across our technology centres in India. As MD, he leads GE's R&D
efforts in India and drives growth by enhancing technical
capability and new product development. Munesh is also CTO for GE
India, focusing on locally relevant innovation while delivering
advanced technology to solve global challenges.
Prior to his current role, Munesh has held various leadership
positions within GE, including VP for Global Research at GE
Healthcare, where he was responsible for research collaborations
around the world. He has also served as CTO for GE Healthcare -
India, supporting global innovations, while focusing on healthcare
products and solutions for India and emerging super-value markets.
Munesh joined GE in 2003 as an engineering director for GE
Munesh is a member of the Board of Directors - Wisconsin
Technology Council, USA. He is also on the National
Leadership Council - GE Asian Pacific American Forum. He
has been recognized with the Best National Healthcare
Innovation Award by FICCI, India (2012), the Best Mobile
Technology for Improving Patient Care Award by Consumer
Health World, USA (2009) and the Java One Emerging
Technology Award, USA (2005) for Healthcare.
Before joining GE, Munesh was in the telecommunications
industry for 10 years and held several positions in
technology and research leadership, software engineering,
new product development, program management and product
marketing. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in
electrical engineering and an MBA. He is GE Six Sigma Black Belt certified.
