Department of Information Technology, Government of India

In Collaboration with IESA & FormulateIP

National Workshop on Intellectual Property and Innovation Management for SMEs

on March 28 2012, Matthan Hotel, Bangalore

One day workshop on “Managing and Protecting Your Intellectual Property –for SME” is hosted by The Government of India, Department of IT in collaboration with India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA) - the premier trade body representing the Indian Electronic System Design and Manufacturing ESDM industry and FormulateIP TechnoLegal Solutions Private Limited – an Innovation Management & Patent Consulting Firm. It is a platform entitled to empower the SMEs with the knowledge and use of Intellectual Property (IP).

What distinguishes the workshop is the sheer intensity of its focus. Intellectual Property (IP) and Innovation Management issues have been more important to Inventors, Companies and IP practitioners in India and abroad. Intellectual assets, such as patents, Copyrights and Trademarks play increasingly a pivotal role in fostering innovation and economic growth in a knowledge-based economy. Competition is intense, and often revolves around an increasingly global race to acquire and assert IP rights. The workshop will focus on how these dynamics affect corporate and legal strategies and the roles of counsel and other professionals. The workshop is targeted at senior level representatives of SMEs and aims to empower them to understand the value of IPR.

If left unprotected, a good invention or creation may be lost to larger competitors that are in a better position to commercialize the product or service at a more affordable price, leaving the original inventor or creator without any financial benefit or reward. Adequate protection of a company's Intellectual Property is a crucial step in deterring potential infringement and in turning ideas into business assets with a real market value. Intellectual Property may assist SMEs in almost every aspect of business development and competitive strategy: from product development to product design, from service delivery to marketing, and from raising financial resources to exporting or expanding your business abroad through licensing or franchising.

The IPR experts will give the audience a practical overview of identification, protection and monetization of intangible IP assets. The workshop will cover several topics like: how are IP rules applied to different assets? What lies ahead for IP in India? What is the future direction of the global market for patents? Participants will be able to interact one-to-one with IP experts at the end of the conference. Don’t miss this great opportunity to gain information and insights of real value to your practice.
