Intellectual Property

Details

This award is designed to identify the Intellectual Property (IP) created in India and the companies behind them. It focuses on highlighting the innovation, technical and marketing excellence, customer acceptance/market success– a true leadership offering.

  For Technovation 2011, twelve awards are to be given, three(S, IE, ME) in each of the three categories: Semiconductor, OEM–Consumer, OEM-Enterprise & Embedded system design house. Terms are defined in the Definitions section.

Selection Criteria

  Any company with product/technology meeting the above requirements can apply. IESA membership is not required.
  Innovation( significant portion) should have happened in India.
  Companies applying should have a clear “ownership” of the IP. For example, a company that has developed the IP for some other company as an engineering services provider cannot apply unless it is the “owner” of the IP. The other company that “owns” can of course apply. IESA cannot be held responsible for sorting out the ownership issues.
  The winner will be a compelling IP, semiconductor or electronics product selected based on
  1. Outstanding technical design
  2. Novelty
  3. Effectiveness in addressing a need or defining a new market
  4. Actual business impact or potential for market impact
  5. Cost effectiveness of solution versus competing technology
  6. Performance metrics of solution versus competing technology
  7. Products which are environmentally friendly would get bonus points

The common theme running through all of this is an innovative idea or technology that’s been applied to deliver real business benefit and the innovation was carried out in India.

Eco-system
 
Details

IESA strongly believes ecosystem is important for holistic growth. This award is designed to recognize the companies which have taken the business risk to build this infrastructure in India.

  For Technovation 2011, Six awards are to be given, three(S, IE, ME) in each of the two categories: Semiconductor ecosystem and EMS companies. Terms are defined in the Definitions section.

Selection Criteria

  Any company which is part of semiconductor or electronics eco-system meeting the above requirements can apply. IESA membership is not required.
  Infrastructure (physical or people) should be in India.
  Companies should highlight the innovations that are done either in business model or in operations.
  Companies will be awarded based on:
  1. First one to take the bold step to fill the gap in eco-system in India
  2. Seen as a trail-blazer
  3. Innovations in business model and technology
  4. Success so far
  5. Out of box ideas to meet demands of local industry
  6. Completeness of offering including reliability and certification
  7. Efforts taken to improve the image of brand India ( like how competitive the India plant is with respect to the ones elsewhere say China )
  8. Efforts taken to reduce the cost and cycle time of productizing a semiconductor/electronics product.

TechnoMentor
 
Details

This award recognizes the academician/industry professional for his/her outstanding contribution in the field of Semiconductors or Electronics through mentoring others in technical/technology domains.

Selection Criteria

  The award is for a distinguished academician or industry professional for his or her achievements in mentoring and being a role model in Semiconductors or Electronics field
  Nominations are solicited from industry and from academia
  Recommendations/Nominations could be done by any employee of any company or by HOD/Head of Academic institution
  1. Anyone in the industry who has been influenced/helped by a TechnoMentor from academia or industry is welcome to nominate them, providing their justification for the nomination. Mentoring done by people within your group at work or as a part and parcel of your regular job would not qualify; mentoring would have to be beyond your regular work.
     
  2. Professors and researchers from academia could also be nominated by their HOD or Head of the Institution (or their industry partner) who could elaborate on the mentoring done by the nominee
  Entries would be accepted only on second-party nomination basis. Self-nomination is not allowed.
  The nominee must be a resident of India and there is no age bar
  The Award Jury at their sole discretion, based on the nominations received, will select the winner.

TechnoVisionary
 
Details

This award is for lifetime achievement by a global citizen of any nationality that has link to India for his contributions in electronics and semi-conductors.

The recognition is for outstanding contributions related to electronics & semiconductors. This award has been instituted to recognize and honor a visionary, who has over the years made seminal contributions that made a difference. The awardees’ path-breaking contributions could be in academics, research, industry or public service.

Selection Criteria

  This award recognizes excellence sustained over a professional career. Luminaries who made a difference to the electronics or semiconductors industry are qualified for nomination to TechnoVisionary award, as long as they satisfy the basic criteria set for it.
  Any citizen of the world with some link to India is eligible for this award
  1. A person of Indian origin should have had a noteworthy impact in India or abroad ESDM industry
     
  2. A person who is not of Indian origin should have had a noteworthy impact in Indian ESDM industry
  Entries are accepted only through second-party nominations (not self-nomination). Anyone who becomes aware of this award is welcome to nominate a visionary in the electronics & semiconductors field.
  If, by chance, no nominations are received, members of the IESA Executive Council could nominate visionaries worthy of the award. The same application form should be used for the nominations. The Awards Jury will have sole discretion in selecting the award winner.

Sarabhai Award
 
Details

Sarabhai award is for outstanding contributions to Indian semicon or electronics industry.

This award recognizes the industry professional for his/her sustained and outstanding contribution in the field of electronics or semiconductors in India. The contributions from this individual should have helped India to take another step in the area of electronics and semiconductors.

Selection Criteria

  The award is for a distinguished industry professional for his or her outstanding achievements (leadership) in the area of electronics or semiconductors.
  The award is for an individual who has stayed in India for several years and for his contributions which has helped India to take a step forward in the area of electronics or semiconductors
  Recommendations/Nominations could be done by any employee of any company
  Entries would be accepted only on second-party nomination basis. Self-nomination is not allowed.
  The nominee must be a resident of India and there is no age bar
  The Award Jury at their sole discretion, based on the nominations received, will select the winner.
